Easy Survival Life Chapter 013 Meiko and Hinako

「 Geez Eri, why are you so afraid of earthworms?! 」

「 I mean, they’re gross. I’m surprised that Arisa’s okay with them 」

「 Isn’t that obvious? I can’t lure the fish if I don’t use earthworms 」

「 Nonono, Arisa was also afraid at first 」

「 Shut up Hokage! You don’t need to tell them that! 」

It was dusk and we finished our work, now we’re enjoying our dinner in front of the cave.

Our dinner today is the fish Arisa caught and the stuff Mana harvested.

Everyone has a piece of grilled fish.

「 It’s great that we use every trick in the book using curry powder but grilling with salt is special! 」

Arisa says while stuffing her mouth.

Everyone, including me, agreed to that statement.

This time, it’s not curry powder but actual salt.

We extracted salt from seawater.

I draw up some water using the earthenware I created and used heat to evaporate the water.

Tasting a grilled fish with salt using the salt I made by hand has a special kind of tasty.

「 Still, this has become the ideal environment now 」

Karin said.

I knew it, she’ noticed.

「 Ideal, what do you mean? 」

Mana tilts her head.

Arisa and Eri have the same question.

「 The temperature isn’t too hot nor too cold, and we don’t feel discomfort from the humidity, right? Also, we have plenty of resources. The river and the ocean is close by, and we can gather materials around easily. Furthermore, we’re in a cave, and so there’s no need to make a camp to hold out the rain. This place is just ideal 」

「 You’re right! Karin, you’re amazing! You seem to know more than Hokage! 」

Arisa says.

「 No, I’m not as serious in this as Hokage. I don’t have the survival knowledge, only history knowledge 」

「 History buff! Cool! 」

Karin didn’t say anything but her cheeks loosened.

「 The temperature and humidity, and the resources are great, and there are more good points in this place 」

「 More good points? 」

Karin doesn’t know.

That said, the other girls agreed as they hear that.

Expecting that reaction, I gave my answer.

「 It’s mosquitoes. There are no mosquitoes here 」

「 Ah 」

Karin shows a reaction I expected.

It went past her thoughts that it made me laugh.

「 You’re right, there are no mosquitoes but is that a big deal? 」

Mana asks.

「 We can just kill the mosquitoes if we find them! Slap them good! It’s my specialty. I’m confident in my kinetic vision! 」

Arisa jokes around.

「 It’s the creature that causes more death to humans more than anything else in the history 」

「 「 「 Really? 」 」 」

Everyone’s surprised other than Karin.

Karin’s the only one who nodded twice.

「 When mosquitoes stab you, you’re in danger of infectious disease. It’s not as dangerous in Japan and so there’s hardly anyone taking them seriously but in other countries, they’re careful with it. The number of people dying from mosquito-borne diseases is over 100,000 a year 」

「 「 Hiiiiiiiiiiii!!! 」 」

In addition to the good temperature, there are no mosquitoes.

If this current status is a game, you can say that we’re in a strong new game.

If a man from the Jomon era is here, he would be too comfortable that he’ll be moved to tears.

For modern people like us, we can move forward without much problem.

「 Even so, we’re in good shape for day two 」

Mana looks at the cave.

The entrance wall has some earthenware and stone tools lined up.

「 Hokage-kun worked hard 」

Eri looked at me with a smile on her face.

I can’t look straight into her eyes, however.

I’m gonna get an erection if I stare too much on her.

That’s how great an 18-year-old man’s lust is.

「 What are we going to do tomorrow? 」

Mana’s eyes are sparkling.

Unlike the first day, Mana’s now enjoying the situation.

Though she feels that she wants to go home, she’s adapting.

「 I want to take a bath 」

Arisa shouts.

「 That’s good. I want to take a bath too 」

Eri followed.

「 Then should we make a bath? 」

Mana asks.

「 If you want to then we can. It would be hard to enjoy bathing by tomorrow but if we take that as a priority, we can make a bathtub in one week. It won’t have the same convenience as the baths in Japan however 」

「 「 「 「 Oooh! 」 」 」 」

Karin mutters “wow”

「 Hokage, you can make anything. What a genius 」

「 Not really. I can only make primitive stuff 」

In that conversation, I realized the difference between men and women.

Bathtubs aren’t even in my priority at all.

I can just soak some cloth in water to wipe off my sweat and that’s it.

That’s how I think but the girls are different.

「 If you girls want to prioritize it then we’ll prepare to make a bathtub by tomorrow. But, I think that the other stuff will be delayed 」

「 What other stuff? 」 Karin asked.

「 Preparations for bad weather. Making preserved foods. Also, reinforcing our hygiene. I’m thinking of making soap 」

「 Huh, you can make soap?! That’s amazing Hokage! You’re too cool! 」

Arisa’s excited.

Karin’s also surprised.

「 I’ve already done the prep work and so it won’t be that troublesome. But, if we’re going to prioritize the bathtub, then it’ll take some time 」

「 Hmmm, if that’s the case, why don’t we hold off making the bathtub for now? 」

Karin proposed.

The girls agreed without exception.

「 Taking a bath is valuable but we need to prioritize our survival first 」

「 That’s right. So, Arisa. Tomorrow, be sure to catch more fish 」

「 Gotcu! Leave that one to me! 」

Our preserved food will be smoked fish.

Today, we already have three river fish stored.

Tomorrow, it can increase twice fold.

From what Arisa says, she seems to get the hang of it.

「 That’s an interesting talk. Can we join in with you? If that is okay 」

It was when we were eating the grape Mana harvested.

Two girls from the same school come from the northeast.

The one who talked to us is our classmate “Asakura Meiko”

A girl whose long straight cut bangs black hair and her height as her feature.

She’s a girl and yet, she’s nearly the same height as me, meaning, she’s 170cm tall.

She looks cute but she doesn’t have many friends.

That’s because she’s quiet in school and she reads books during break time.

I never saw her be friendly with anyone.

If I recall, she should be in the handicraft club.

「 Asakura and the other one is… 」

Looking at the girl behind Meiko, we’re in surprise.

Meiko replies with an uninterested tone without care.

「 She’s my little sister, Hinako. A freshman of the same school 」

「 It seems that it’s not just our class who’s tossed into this island 」

Mana said.

I thought of the same thing.

Just how many students did transfer into this island?
