Easy Survival Life Chapter 064 Dispute and Egg Dishes

Team Sasazaki’s attacking team Sumeragi.

It’s somewhat surprising but not too much.

Amane’s cheat of a scout so we have a rough idea of what’s going on.

Even so, we’ll hear the details after dinner tonight.

「 I see, I guess that’s expected. What about Reito? 」

「 He’s moving as there’s no way to end this without bloodshed. 」

Sasazaki’s raided the place with 20 healthy men.

Reito’s team is over a hundred, but half of them are sick.

Furthermore, few of them are mildly sick and many of them are dying.

This combined with the fact that there are more women puts them at a disadvantage.

However, Reito doesn’t want to fight.

He’s gathering the members in one place and he will stand in the middle.

They face the Sasazaki team surrounding them and Reito said while holding his gun.

「 Those who want to die, come. Even if it’s one shot per person and they die, some of them won’t die. If we all attack, you guys can’t win. However, the first one to make a movie will die. That’s why, if anyone’s willing to die for their friends, then come at me. I’ll kill you as soon as you take a step further 」

Hearing that, team Sasazaki didn’t move.

Amane said that he’s quite enthusiastic.

I think that Reito also predicted this development.

I agree.

「 Tsk, let’s go back 」

In the end, Sasazaki decided to withdraw.

His goal isn’t to kill everyone in Reito’s team.

He only wants to kill Reito, and that didn’t happen.

Reito’s spirit won.

「 But, this will not be the end. 」

I said. Amane agreed.

「 Sasazaki’s formulating a new plan. Instead of killing Sumeragi Reito and taking over the group, they’re going to split the pieces. Now that team Sumeragi has girls working outside, they might as well kidnap them 」

Arisa mutters “How savage”

「 It’s likely to happen. Sasazaki’s objective is to increase his sex slaves. However, Reito won’t stay silent 」

「 Whether Sumeragi Reito is a man willing to kill or not will be the focus of the victory 」

Amane and I have the same prediction.

If Reito can move with the intention of killing his enemies, then team Sumeragi is safe.

Even if it’s not everyone, all he needs to do is kill the head of team Sasazaki.

But if they don’t and it becomes a battle of endurance, then they won’t stand a chance.

As long as they can’t abandon the sick, Reito’s team will decline naturally.

「 No matter what Reito or Sasazaki does, our policies will remain unchanged. We’re to fight the fire coming down on us but we’re not going to actively intervene. As long as there’s no sign that they will involve us then we can only watch and wait 」

After confirming the policy with everyone again, I speak to Amane.

「 Continue scouting for a while longer. Switch with Kageyama once you confirm the situation is in stalemate 」

「 Certainly 」

Thus, we spent Friday, August 30 in safety.

The day changed, and it’s now August 31.

I hear from outside the hideout as the chill leaves and the dawn begins.

「 「 「 「 cock-a-doodle-doo ♪ 」 」 」 」

It’s not too loud of a noise.

We placed them a good distance away so it only slightly irritates your eardrums.

Even so, I hear them making noise so I woke up.

「 Shinomiya Hokage, you’re awake too 」

Amane said as I got up.

She’s neatly folded the top and bottom of her bed sheet and futon.

I folded mine the same way and then another woman woke up too

「 Was that the chicken just now? 」

Eri’s desperately fighting her sleepy eyes.

「 Yeah. Want to see them? They should be laying eggs already 」

Eri got up in an instant.

From a sleepy state to a nicely awake face.

「 Eggs?! Let’s go! Let’s go! 」

The three of us went out of the hideout trying not to wake up others.

「 I’m going around to scout the perimeter 」

Amane said as she leaves the hideout.

「 Are you not going to check the eggs? 」

Amane shook her head saying “no thanks.”

Then, the gaze went to Eri.

「 Eri, I’m expecting a good dish today 」

「 Yes, I got this! 」

Eri smiled happily.

I saw the corners of Amane’s lips raise just slightly.

「 I hope they plopped a good one 」

Eri and I went to the coast of the cliff-top of our marine-erosion hideout.

Chickens are kept around the front of the cliff.

「 There it is! No escapees 」

There are ten chickens in the wooden enclosure.

When we closed up to them, they made a noise that it’s quite annoying.

「 As for the eggs… 」

I turn my attention to the crate set up in the corner of the enclosure.

It’s a box a size larger than a chicken and there are five boxes lined up.

This box is the egg-laying box.

The hens will lay eggs in this place once installed.

The entrance to the egg-laying box is covered with a reddish-brown cloth.

There’s a little story that if you cover the door with a red cloth then it’s easier to enter.

This is a piece of trivia Karin taught me and I adopted it even though I have doubts about the story.

「 Hokage-kun! 」

Eri raised her voice in joy.

I nodded and my cheeks loosened.

「 It’s a success! These are some first-class eggs! 」

There were a total of 10 eggs in the box.

Chickens lay eggs once a day so having ten eggs is the best result we could have.

All ten hens we captured have laid eggs.

「 From now on, we have eggs at the rate of ten a day 」

Once chickens lay eggs, they’ll continue to do it.

Their pace will be once a day.

The laying period is about two years and there are days where they stop laying on the latter half.

The hens we captured are young by their looks so I think it’ll be safe for a while.

「 There might be some fertilized eggs in the mix but that shouldn’t be a problem 」

I said. Eri backed off.

「 Huh? No problem? Why?! 」

「 I mean, we’re eating them anyway 」

I’m more surprised why Eri’s surprised.

I don’t know what she’s surprised about.

「 Are we eating fertilized eggs? 」

「 Yeah 」

So that’s what she’s surprised about? I get it.

It’s a common misconception by people who aren’t interested in livestock farming.

「 Could it be that you think that fertilized eggs already have a chick inside? 」

「 Don’t they?! 」

「 If you raise them then they’ll become chicks, but they’re not much different from sterile eggs when they’re just laid. So, if you crack the eggs and found a few fertilized eggs, I don’t think that even Eri can find the difference. After all, they look exactly the same, both having whites and yolks 」

「 What about the taste and health issues? 」

「 No problem. They even sell fertilized eggs as food in Japan. Furthermore, fertilized eggs are sometimes more expensive than not 」

「 Really?! I didn’t know that 」

「 Well, it’s not surprising that you don’t know if you’re not interested in husbandry 」

「 Hokage-kun sure knows a lot, I respect that 」

「 I’d be a man with no redeeming factor if I don’t know this stuff 」

「 Ahaha 」

I retrieve the eggs from the laying box.

Then, I washed the surface of the eggs before cooking them.

Since it’s summer, we ate them that day since we fear that they would spoil.

It’s been 44 days since we transferred to this world, the day is August 31.

Finally, we’re eating egg dishes

「 Delicious! 」

I shouted.

「 As expected, eggs are the best!! 」

Arisa made a triumphant pose.

「 I never thought I’d see the day where I’d be so moved by mere scrambled eggs 」

Mana’s smiling.

We made scrambled eggs from the haul today.

When split to everyone, the amount per person isn’t that much.

The seasoning is light, as it’s just salt.

Even so, we’re all emotionally moved.

I almost shouted “I never tasted an egg dish as good as this one”

「 When we first came to the island, all we had were fish and mushroom skewers, and yet… 」

Someone muttered.

The dishes we’ve eaten so far come to mind.

Before we knew it, we were all moved to tears.
